STORYBOARD ART

Over the 11+ years I've worked in the advertising world, I've done storyboards for a number of different clients and client types. Jewelers to healthcare, food industry to retail. While a bit more refined than shooting boards, the work I have to show is made for pitch purposes, but still thought out as far as how the camera will be positioned and move through the scenes. I have the ability to do lot of these quickly with simple direction. I have also drawn comic books, another form of sequential art. You can see those samples on my personal favorites page.

This campaign ended up following along very close to these boards, and while they weren't drawn up with the intent on using them as shooting boards, the client loved the work so much they were used on set to get the scenes as I drew them. The end result was also highly praised by the client. This was also a high profile project with a very aggressive deadline. I had no problem meeting my deadlines and adding in multiple rounds of revisions. After you've viewed my boards, take a look at the end result here.

Cabell Hospital Commercial

These boards were conceptualized as one large five minute ad to run in the hospital, and featured a narrator talking over a large number of scenes, ranging from hospital and physical rehab environments, to families and outdoor shots. There's even a helicopter! There was a wide variety of scenes to depict, which was fun even though it presented it's own challenge with an aggressive deadline.

Hospital Experience Exhibit & Lima Memorial Hospital Rehabilitation Center Commercial

The Hospital Experience Exhibit had taken the phrase "walk a mile in their shoes" and applied it to a personal experience exploring someone's medical journey through the audiences senses. It starts with a wrist band and each station, they experience someone's medical perspective through a specific sense such as sight, sound, etc. There was some debate over whether the patient should be revealed before or after the experience. While the client loved the idea, to the production had just begun when it had to be shut down due to the pandemic.

The rehabilitation center commercial was a spot centered around people working to regain lost mobility, and showing their caring staff.

I chose to feature these spots because the types of scenes are a bit different in tone and style from the above, showing my range to depict scenes from any industry.
